At Aqua Vale Community Trust, we understand the importance of reducing our carbon footprint and being ‘green’. Over the past few years, we have been working hard to improve our environmental performance, and have had some great successes; some of our actions have even been replicated at other leisure centres.
Aqua Vale Swimming & Fitness Centre stood alongside companies such as Fiat and Nissan to be presented with their own Green Apple in November 2009. The green apple award for Environmental Best Practice is awarded by non-political, non-activist environment group dedicated to recognising best practice around the world.
Our savings have been achieved through a common sense approach to reducing unnecessary use, ensuring settings were optimised, installing new equipment and raising staff awareness. Many of the actions we took can also be done at home – Visit the Green Achievements page to see how we did it.
